News: Inland Vision Care designated "Intacs Center of Excellence"

Addition Technology LLP, maker of Intacs™ Ultrathin Prescription Inserts, designates Francisco J. Pabalan, M.D. and Pabalan Eye Center an "Intacs Center of Excellence".

Dr. Pabalan, one of the most experienced Intacs surgeons in the Inland Empire, integrated Intacs into Pabalan Eye Center shortly after FDA approval in Spring of 2000. After clinical review of excellent results, Dr. Pabalan was selected to a five surgeon panel to develop the "Prolate System", a highly updated Intacs implantation procedure, which reduced surgical maneuvering by 30%. This more efficient procedure shortened the implantation time, increased comfort, and sped recovery. Dr. Pabalan has taught this new standard for implanting Intacs to many surgeons across the country.

"Intacs are one of the best vision correction technologies available," says Dr. Pabalan, "especially in terms of safety". Many low to moderately nearsighted patients are fearful of the laser. "This is a large group of patients to whom Intacs is very appealing. There is no permanent tissue removal, no surgery through the visual axis of the cornea, and Intacs are removable and replaceable if vision needs change. If Intacs are removed, patients can return to contacts or glasses for good vision".

Dr. Pabalan notes that "while no surgery is all things to all people, Intacs very frequently give excellent results in its area of specialty, low to moderately nearsighted patients. And new uses for Intacs in the treatment of farsightedness, astigmatism, and Keratoconus are underway worldwide".
